Complete Information of Water Purification

Water purification is the removal of contaminants, pathogens, and undesirable chemicals from water to make it suitable for drinking, industrial use, or environmental purposes. The aim is to produce water that fits a particular purpose, with most the purified and disinfected water intended for human consumption. Howeverwater purification can also be done for many other purposes, including medical, pharmacological, chemical, and industrial applications.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Water Purification:-

Advantages:

Methods of Water Purification:-

Boiling – Kills bacteria, viruses, and parasites by heating water to a rolling boil for at least 1 minute.
Filtration – Uses filters (e.g., activated carbon, ceramic, or reverse osmosis) to remove impurities, sediments, and contaminants.
Distillation – Involves boiling water and collecting the condensed steam, removing most contaminants.
UV Purification – Uses ultraviolet (UV) light to kill bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens.
Reverse Osmosis (RO) – Uses a semi-permeable membrane to remove dissolved salts, heavy metals, and contaminants.
Sedimentation & Coagulation – Involves adding chemicals like alum to cause particles to clump and settle before filtration.
